Spanish Language Schools in Mexico

Housing           Students Comments

One of the important features of this Spanish language study abroad program is the options that our partner school offer the student for housing accommodations. Intensive Spanish language learning is facilitated by actually living immersed in the language community
.

Spanish Lessons in Mexico

Homestay program, which allows the student to stay in the home of one of the school's carefully selected traditional Mexican families. The school offers to place only one student per family, thus assuring full immersion in the use of Spanish while being at home. Besides improving oral fluency, this program also promotes a greater understanding of the culture of Mexico. The cost is $98 USD per person per week and includes 3 meals per day (unlike some schools that only offer 2 meals per day). This price is for a private room (private bathrooms depend upon availability). Shared rooms can be provided upon request.

Excellent discounts have been obtained on hotel accommodations, for those who would prefer that option.

Hotel Posada San Rafael. This is a very nice small hotel that offers newly renovated rooms. It is located about 2 blocks from the school and is in a safe neighborhood. (No meals included). The rate per night is approximately $25 - 30 USD, depending on the room; you are able to use the kitchen services and free access to Internet.

Hotel Posada San Pablo. This Inn features clean, spacious rooms with a private bath and a table convenient for homework purposes. It is located about 2 blocks from the school. The rate per night is approximately $15 - 25 USD, also depending on the room; you are able to use the kitchen services.

El Aposento Bed & Breakfast, located 4 blocks from the school. This guesthouse offers a discounted daily rate, which includes breakfast, laundry service, and parking facilities. Cost may vary depending on number of days/weeks you spend in Guadalajara.  Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

El Hotel Cervantes, located 1 block from the Spanish language school. This establishment offers students a discounted daily rate for single and double occupancy rooms, and features a rooftop swimming pool. Approximately $45.00 U.S. Single or double occupancy. Visa and MasterCard are honored.

Hotel Fenix
, Part of the Best Western® chain. This Guadalajaran tradition is located only a scenic five minute walk from the school, and right amidst the hustle and bustle of the Historic Downtown Area. Features include: Restaurant, Bar, Disco, Parking, Travel agency, Gift shop, Satellite T.V. etc. Discounted rates for their students are approximately $50.00 U.S. Single or double occupancy. Visa and MasterCard are honored.

Hostelling International. This establishment is affiliated with the very well known "International Youth Hostel Federation".
Offers: Dinning room, 30 beds, hot water showers, full kitchen, cooking utensils, private lockers, internet access, TV, games and books, lounge areas, laundry service, tourist info, tours. This is the only youth hostel in Guadalajara, is right in the heart of the city, and is just 6 blocks away from the Spanish language school. The cost per night is only $120.00 pesos ($12.00 USD aprox.)

Vila Santa. This establishment includes private and shared rooms with a private bathroom, television, and ventilation system (air chiller). An equipped kitchen is accessible to guests and supervised by a staff member. Laundry services (machine washing and drying) are included in the cost. Restaurant service is also available. Cost may vary depending on number of days/weeks you spend in Guadalajara.

Guest House Another lodging option that the school can offer to students who would like a more private lodging is a small semi-private apartment. This guesthouse offers less than ten rooms so you will have the chance to interact with students from other schools as well as native travelers. Students have a private room with private bathroom and shared kitchen facilities. All guests have access to the kitchen facilities (including a refrigerator, stove,  basic utensils and cookware). Students also have access to laundry facilities. No meals are included and students must either prepare their own or eat out. The cost for a room is $3,700 pesos per month (approx. $370 USD). If students would like their room to be cleaned the cost is $4,550 per month (approx. $455 USD). Use of the kitchen and laundry facilities is at no extra charge; all that students are asked is not to leave dirty dishes or a mess behind.

Student Comments

These are a few of the individual experiences of some of the people who have studied the Spanish language at our partner school:

Guadalajara is a fantastic place to study Spanish with marvelous and friendly people. The School program really prepares a student to become fluent in Spanish.
Geoffrey Buck. Hollywood U.S.A.

chose Guadalajara because it was mentioned in my travel book and Lonely Planet for Spanish Schools.
Rachel Bevan. Camathen U.K.

Excellent instruction with perfect pace and clear explanation. Materials are excellent - well organized and complete. Course placement was perfect!
Louis Kint, Del Mar
U.S.A.

The teacher is very friendly, helpful and gives many inputs, when I make mistakes; he corrects me and tells me why. I am glad to have him as my teacher.
Renate Huber. Bueron, Switzerland.

My teacher managed the class in the right way; he cares about my difficulties and my skills (being French that helps very much). I think that I got the basis for speaking in Spanish. Three weeks is a little short to speak perfectly but ok for later achievement.
Bertrand Surin. France

It's been a perfect mix of learning with the book and practice in talking hours. I liked it a lot. My teacher did a wonderful and great job, keep him! My family was excellent and a good choice.
Matthias Schmidt, Switzerland

The School provides a very good environment and the necessary services to learn a language. This has been a good experience for me. Not only as an academic effort, but also as a cultural experience of great richness and variety. Thank you,
D. Zaman, Oakville,
U.S.A.

Private class is well structured. The teacher has objectives which he sets out for me to achieve. Objectives are reasonable yet flexible enough to have all questions answered.
Diane Enos. Arizona U.S.A.

As an advanced student, I had a very beneficial time. The teacher was very smart, very intellectual and was able to accommodate to the fact that I was proficient in some of the planned areas of curriculum.
Garth Thaylor, U.S.A.

The teacher is very friendly, helpful and gives many inputs, when I make mistakes; he corrects me and tells me why. I am glad to have him as my teacher.
Renate Huber. Bueron, Swiss

I enjoyed all my experiences here in Mexico. I like the classes, especially the concentration on conversation. My biggest problem was my hesitation in speaking. After spending two weeks working on conversation. I feel much more confident speaking. I am looking forward to working on grammar now.
The homestay has been fine. The family has been very helpful and conversation with them has helped to build my vocabulary and work on pronunciation.

Carole Wilson. Durham, North Carolina, USA

I am staying at the Posada San Rafael Inn and I am most pleased with the accommodations the owners and their staff. It is close to the school which also helps. Further more, it is inexpensive.
Roger Mainville.U.S.A.

My experience has been very pleasant - house is comfortable, clean and privacy is respected. Family is very accommodating in sharing language and being truly interested in conversing with me. Thoroughly enjoying it.
Diane Enos. Arizona U.S.A.

This was really an exciting and dynamic experience for me. I would highly recommend this experience to my fellow.
Uffe Rasmussen. Vejle Denmark
